Sometimes random and unfortunate things happen... like fracturing your foot while on a run! This is what happened to me. I have been athletic my entire life and this was the fist time I accidentally got injured.
So what did I do? Well, I did not panic. The doctor advised that I would recover fully. It took 5 months and weeks of physical therapy to heal. To help stabilize the foot so the bone would mend I had to wear a boot. The boot was very helpful since I was able to walk. But the downside was that it caused sciatica since the boot was higher than most shoes and my body was completely out of alignment. I had pain from mild to excruciating throughout the process from the foot fracture and sciatica.
But a broken foot and pain were not going to hold me back from staying healthy or having a great attitude! The first thing I did was to follow my 9010 FIT Food Plan and eat healthy. I found that I did not need to eat as much since I was not very active. After 3 months with zero exercise, I lost 4 pounds of muscle but did not gain any weight or fat. I was sore from sitting and minimal walking, and I also felt less energetic. Why? Exercise and muscles give you energy and make you feel great!
After 5 months my foot finally healed and I did not gain any weight! I lost some muscle but that is easy to put back on. I am not quite ready to hit the running trails but I will ease back into it and in no time I will be at 100%! I am excited to have my health back due to the great care of doctors and physical therapists and of course by following the 9010 FIT Lifestyle Program!
